The many hues of the white winter season: Skiing, hiking & more in the Dolomites

Winter holidays at the Hotel Waldrast Dolomiti in Seis am Schlern

Glittering hills and sugar-coated coniferous forests as far as the eye can see, with little mountain huts and isolated houses in between. And, in the background, the giant peaks all capped in white…

This is no picture book – it is the Seiser Alm in winter. Nor is it as quiet as it seems – at least not everywhere. Listen beyond the wide silence and lonely crunching of snow under your feet and you will hear the swish of skis, the laughter of cheerful guests at the huts, or the shouts of children on the toboggan runs! The silent Alpine pastures have depth: the Seiser Alm, especially, has two sides – literally. While the meadows and forests of the plateau are as if made for winter walkers, snowshoe enthusiasts and cross-country skiers, the slopes of the Seiser Alm-Gröden Valley ski area are a paradise for winter sports fans of all degrees of skill. An all just a cable car ride from the Hotel Waldrast Dolomiti!

We are on autumn break until 14th of December...

... and look forward to seeing you soon.

But the adventure goes far beyond the borders of the Seiser Alm! The Seiser Alm-Gröden Valley ski area forms part of the Dolomiti Superski Carousel, which in turn connects 1,200 kilometres of slopes and 12 ski areas via 450 lifts and one ski pass. Winter? There are no limits on the Seiser Alm!

Snowboarders can try the Alpe di Siusi Snowpark, the best in Italy, with an incredible variety of boxes, steps and kickers. But also for lovers of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring and skating, Alpe di Siusi is the ideal place for winter holidays. The area has 80 km of slopes, from the simplest to the most difficult. One discipline that is increasingly appreciated is ski mountaineering, with the unmissable Sassopiatto tour. The winter holiday sports programme is completed by tobogganing, sledging, paragliding and hiking.
